My Experience

Finding my career as a leading Salesforce Consultant.

I started my career within internal sales, then moved on to account/customer management using hard-to-use CRM’s.

One fateful day, my Sales Director appointed me to “look after the CRM” and improve it to help my fellow sales teammates. Fast forward a few CRM’s and projects later, I found Salesforce in 2013.

With the help of a project team, I led my first successful Salesforce greenfield implementation that revolutionised the way sales teams and customers engaged with the business.

Since then, I have changed careers to become an implementation expert in Salesforce and a behavioural coach to help sales leaders develop the right high-value behaviours to maximise productivity and revenue.

Whilst Salesforce is my platform of choice, I am also an expert with NetSuite and developing integrations with a range of other apps.

Currently, I work for an award-winning Salesforce ISV Partner called CloudApps as Senior Consultant & Customer Success Manager.

My Approach. 

You cannot simply add value to your customers by just implementing technology to fix or change your business. People are your biggest asset and it’s my belief that for any technical improvements you make, your people must be ready, and able, to make the journey.

Whilst I may be a technical expert in CRM applications, I am also an experienced behavioural specialist. For many years, I’ve been training teams to become more productive and coaching leaders to become better mentors; focusing on developing their people. 

Why is it important to invest in your people when implementing new technology?

To put it simply; you can invest in a high performance sports car – but if the driver doesn’t know how to handle it, they are likely to crash it into a tree. Then you’re left with a mangled car and you’ve lost you’re investment.

My job is simple. I am here to help businesses get the most from their technology investments, whilst ensuring people are able to get the maximum horse power out of the tools available.

Work Experience.

Senior Consultant & Customer Success Manager - CloudApps Ltd.

Reading, United Kingdom (July 2017 – Present)

In this role, I work with key enterprise customers to solve business challenges and drive value through product alignment, innovation and enhanced customer experience for a Salesforce ISV partner.

SuMo is a 100% force.com native application that can be added to the Salesforce platform via AppExchange that helps businesses to increase sales performance by helping them create a healthy pipeline, motivate more of the winning sales behaviours & eliminate careless sales habits.

My key responsibilities in this role is to ensure customer success through scoping and delivering projects to drive behaviours that depict success and ultimately improve business performance both in Salesforce and sales teams.

I lead the technical delivery for more complex requirements for our customers, as well as create self-service resource to help ease implementations or to educate customers on how they can get the most out of SuMo’s features.

Applications Lead - NetSuite & CRM Apps - IRIS Software Group

Datchet, United Kingdom (June 2016 – July 2017)

Hands-on technical role with a focus on delivering the new CRM, ERP, DTM, and productivity applications, as part of a major business transformation programme. The applications in this domain include NetSuite, Marketo, Callidus Cloud CPQ, DocuSign, Microsoft Azure AD, and Office 365.

I also looked after some of the existing applications within the business, which include: Salesforce, Pardot, DotMailer, and advisory support for a Microsoft Dynamics platform.

Working with other Application Leads, I advised the Technical Design Authority on strategic architectural design, as well as contribute to setting information security policies.

I was a senior stakeholder in the transformation programme delivery team providing technical assurance, solution design, development, and application architectural principles. Coupled with expert knowledge of applications, I ensured the final developed solution meets the requirements gathered in the design phase.

I was also the resident expert in developing in the following languages: JavaScript, Apex, SuiteScript 1.0, SuiteScript 2.0, C#, IronPython, and most front-end scripting (HTML, CSS, PHP).

I ensured availability and security of data through effective monitoring and access controls within the domain I owned.

In addition, I backed-up the resident integrations Application Lead by providing development for custom REST & SOAP API’s – both using direct web services and IPaaS platforms such as Jitterbit Harmony and MuvData.

Lead Salesforce Administrator - Opsview Ltd.

Reading, United Kingdom (January 2015 – June 2016)

I provided innovative technical solutions for a growing global business’ application architecture. I was responsible for owning the application domain, which included: Salesforce, Salesfusion, Intacct, Marketo, and to provide back up capability for the software licensing provisioning system – Gemalto EMS.

Working with other technical and business stakeholders, I advised on development priorities, solution designs, and resources on the Business Systems Operations Team (Technical Design Authority).

Whilst in this role, I led the development activity that vastly updated the existing Salesforce platform with the aim to provide a more seamless and simplified experience. This was achieved by upgrading integrations to software licensing, refactoring code to be more efficient (JavaScript and Apex), applying declarative and programmatic automation to streamline time intensive business tasks, and providing user training as well as general user support in the UK and US.

As a key part of my role, I would provide stakeholders technical proposals based on the detailed business requirements gathered. At each stage of development, I would lead customer reviews, create/update support and solution design documentation.

As required, I would also carry out complex data transformation loads by using ETL’s such Apex Data Loader, Jitterbit Data Loader, and OnDemand Tools.

I was also the nominated Data Protection Officer for both UK and US entities of the company, ensuring compliance and handling of data protection issues in line with local legislation

Group Data Manager & Salesforce Administrator - BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT

Swindon, United Kingdom (September 2012 – January 2015)

Managed applications and data security, system configuration, declarative (point-and-click) and programmatic automation to ensure maximum optimization and performance for the following systems: Salesforce, Oracle CRM on Demand, ConversationalCRM, Pardot, DotMailer, and DocuSign.

Developed and maintained a flexible data management plan over various data sources within the Sales and Marketing departments.

Carried out data analysis, modelling, and blending to provide useful customer insight to aid business decision making.

Created end-to-end solution designs to meet business requirements and oversee development, as well as implementation, in line with change control request procedures and governance.

Undertaken configuration work where needed on the application systems within the domain and liaise with third parties to ensure that service levels are delivered.

Ensured that all relevant stakeholders are consulted and approvals obtain for all elements of the solution architecture (applications, technical, infrastructure, data, process).

Led and advised a number of data migration and CRM implementations in an effort to pull together disparate systems into one single application.

Delivered account management and opportunity development to existing SME accounts.

Engaged with senior management and board level decision makers to offer bespoke consultancy and CPD solutions for IT Professionals

Responsible for a revenue target of £15K per quarter, whilst focused on delivery of high customer satisfaction and relationship management.

Acted as system administrator for Oracle CRM on Demand, managing system changes, and development to automate manual sales processes.
